Clearing Storm at Asakusa

Series; Eight Views of Contemporary Edo

Clearing Storm at Asakusa - Attractive view of the shop girl Ofuji chatting with a samurai in her toothbrush stand. The samurai reaches into a tobacco pouch to fill his slender pipe as he looks back over his shoulder at the beauty, his head wrapped in a black hood. A slanted rack at left holds toothbrushes and paper packets, while the panels along the back of the stall feature a scene of a willow tree along a stream and two figures. Nicely detailed with embossed lines to indicate the folds of the black hood. Published by Kyoto Hanga-in with seal at bottom left corner.
