Original Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864) Japanese Woodblock Print
Young Samurai Kakemono, circa 1843 - 1844

Comments - Fantastic vertical diptych or kakemono of a young samurai in springtime, a branch covered with delicate pink blossoms behind him. He looks over his shoulder, a slender bamboo pole in his hand. His black kimono features striking pale blue insets patterned with white plum blossoms, and his mon or family crest appears on the shoulders and sleeve. A terrific design, beautifully composed and drawn. A handsome Edo era design.

Artist - Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864)

Image Size - 27 3/4" x 9 3/8"

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Two separate panels. A few small holes, repaired, blends well. Surface loss at upper left corner. Slight toning and soiling. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
