Nissaka; Distant View of Miyama, 1854 - Intriguing scene from a fine collaborative Tokaido series by Hiroshige and Toyokuni III. In the foreground, Toyokuni III shows a beauty leaning over a fountain rising from a rustic stone basin, holding a water dipper high above her head. Her red tie-dyed outer kimono is bordered with a blue geometric print with floral medallions, worn over a yellow ochre robe with a flower design. Her long hair flows over her shoulders, adorned with a few hairpins on top. Another kimono lies crumpled on the ground beside her. Above, a grassy slope dotted with pines frames a view of a village with a mountain beyond. A handsome design with embossing on the ochre robe, and fine bokashi shading in Hiroshige's landscape.
