Series; The Sixty-nine Stations of the Kisokaido, 1852
Hosokute: Bando Hikosaburo IV as Konoshita Tokichi - Handsome kabuki portrait of Bando Hikosaburo IV as the daimyo Konoshita Tokichi. He frowns angrily, hunching forward with his chin resting on his hand, his brows furrowed. He wears a dark brown kamishimo over a softly shaded gray kimono patterned with paulownia, a yellow paulownia crest appearing on the shoulders and sleeves. His hair is neatly pulled back into a topknot tied with white cord. The landscape above shows a view of Hosokute at night, with travelers passing signs at left and the rooftops of the village beneath the pines at right. Nicely detailed with embossing in the white kimono trim and blue collar, and the white cord.
