Comments - Terrific image of Mitsuuji, the Country Genji, enjoying an evening of dancing and refreshments to celebrate the Bon Festival in the Seventh Month. He sits on a platform covered with tatami mats, a shallow cup of sake in hand, smiling as he watches the dancers parading around him. Beauties in matching blue kimono patterned with butterflies are joined by a young girl in a pink robe and a rather clumsy-looking man at right. The gracefully wave their arms as the hop about on one foot, smiling and enjoying themselves. Gourd-shaped paper lanterns decorated with grasses and blossoms hand overhead, and a full moon can be seen at left above the silhouetted trees along the horizon. A wonderful design with attractive color and wonderful detail, including fine bokashi shading and wood grain impression in the background.
