Series; True Feelings Compared: The Founts of Love

Kajiwara Genta and the Courtesan Umegae - Lovely portrait of the courtesan Umegae and her sweetheart, the samurai Kajiwara Genta. After learning that Genta's father was responsible for the death of her own father, Umegae is urged to break off their relationship by her sister, Ofude, and help her kill Genta to atone for their father's death. Here, Umegae looks up at Genta with a sweet smile, wearing layers of kimono patterned with her namesake plum blossoms (ume). He looks down at her with a sad expression, a slender pipe extending from beneath the sleeve of his black kimono. An attractive design with expressive figures and fine detail in the hairlines and eyebrows, with a dusting of mica across the background. We've never seen this design in reprint before.
