Comments - Handsome triptych featuring portraits of the fifteen Tokugawa Shoguns, with the first Shogun Ieyasu seated at top center wearing a black robe and court cap. He is surrounded by young and old samurai, in a variety of casual and formal dress. At lower left, the fifth Shogun Tsunayoshi, known as the "Dog Shogun," sits on a cushion stroking a white dog. At upper right, a young boy practices riding on a saddle across a wooden horse. Red draperies hang overhead, and a text block at upper right lists the rulers. Beautifully detailed with a subtle burnished pattern in the black robes, court caps, and cushion. A fantastic subject for samurai enthusiasts.
