Ichikawa Kodanji IV as Kohata Koheiji, 1859

Comments - Interesting kabuki portrait of Ichikawa Kodanji IV as Kohata Koheiji, a former servant who has started a courier business. Here, he peers out into the night through the doorway of a hut, pushing aside the straw mats serving as a curtain. He grimaces unhappy, his brows furrowed with worry. He wears an olive green plaid kimono tied with a yellow obi, his thinning hair pulled back into a slender topknot. A nice expressive figure with a finely detailed setting.

Artist - Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864)

Image Size - 14" x 9 3/4" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. A few small holes repaired. Slight creasing. Please see photos for details. Very good overall.
