Comments - Great Osaka kabuki print depicting a confrontation between two men on the snowy bank of a river. The fellow at left has tumbled to one knee, holding his hat out in self-defense. The man at right stretches a length of cord out between his hands, a narrow metal blade caught between his teeth. He wears a brown checked kimono over a black undergarment and leggings, his upper body tattoo visible on his arms. Snow falls steadily over the wintry gray sky, blanketing the shore behind them. Beautifully detailed with touches of burnishing and fine bokashi shading.
