Takeji Asano - Born in Kyoto, Takeji Asano helped form the Kyoto Creative Print Society in 1929. While designing traditional shin hanga landscape prints, he studied carving and printing, achieving a great technical skill in carving. After WWII, he created many self-carved and self-printed woodblocks of scenery in and around Kyoto. His colorful works have a real graphic appeal, with bold line work, sweeping views, and handsome compositions. These sosaku hanga images are a great choice for the modern collector and make striking framed displays.
