Series; An Assortment of Beauties in the Modern Style

Umekichi at the Matsuno-sushi-ro, 1863 - Attractive portrait of the beauty Umekichi at the Matsuno-sushi-ro, sitting on a verandah admiring the full moon. She holds a porcelain cup of sake in her hand, a meal set out on a tray on the floor next to another tray with more cups and a kettle. She wears a gray plaid kimono tied with a black obi over a red under robe, smiling slightly as she looks over her shoulder. A charming design with a nicely detailed setting. Includes embossing in the white kimono collar and soft shading in the night sky. The Boston Museum of Fine Arts has this image in its collection.
