Series; Thirty-six Poems by Heroes

Kato Kiyomasa, 1893 - Handsome portrait of the great warrior Kato Kiyomasa sitting quietly with a bowl in his hand. He stares ahead with a solemn expression, his long beard trailing over his chest and his thinning hair pulled back into a slender topknot. He wears a brown dotted kamishimo over a blue kimono with a subtle burnished checked pattern, his sword tucked at his side. A container on the floor before him is filled with mochi or rice cakes, and a standing screen at left depicts a crane. Nicely detailed with fine line work in the hair, and burnishing in the black lacquer frame of the screen. A beautifully printed design.

Artist - Toshihide (1863 - 1925)

Image Size - 8 1/2" x 12 1/2"

Condition - With excellent color and detail. A couple spots. Some light toning. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
