Drake and White Lotus

Series; Six Flowers and Birds

Drake and White Lotus - Beautiful aizuri-e design of a male duck or drake wading in the water next to a white lotus . The bird's legs disappear beneath the softly shaded water as it flaps its wings, poking its beck into the pond. The lotus plant is covered with large blossoms with carefully veined petals and a large leaf. A lovely image with beautiful detail and fine bokashi shading. A rare Hiroshige aizuri-e nature scene, done only in shades of blue. A great choice for a collector of classic ukiyo-e, also in the collection of the Boston Museum of Fine Arts.

Artist - Hiroshige (1797 - 1858)

Image Size - 14 1/2" x 6 1/8" + right margin as shown

Condition - With excellent color and detail as shown. Slight thinning and paper remnants on reverse at top corners from previous folio mounting. Small tear at lower right edge, repaired, blends well. Slight soiling and creasing. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
