Gathering under a Cherry Tree, 1854

Comments - Interesting kabuki scene of two men clowning around at a tea stand, each of whom wears an eye mask over his forehead. The kneeling fellow smirks slyly as he turns his head to the side, dressed in a blue kimono patterned with seashells. His companion looks down at him with an unhappy expression, his brows furrowed with worry. He wears a blue kimono over a yellow under robe, tucked into white hakama pants, a dotted sash tied around his forehead. A blossoming cherry tree frames the blue sky overhead. The actors are Nakamura Fukusuke I as Ameya Fukukichi and Ichikawa Komazo VII as Kannushi Komadayu. A handsome design with attractive color and detail, including soft bokashi shading in the background.
