Lord Mashiba Hisayoshi Reviews the Generals from His Camp in Nagoya, 1865

Comments - Handsome triptych depicting Lord Mashiba Hisayoshi (the real-life Toyotomi Hideyoshi) reviewing his generals from his camp in Nagoya. The daimyo and his men watch from the stone fortress at right as troops parade around the castle's moat, wearing full armor. At center, a group of samurai carrying guns disappears beyond the stone wall, followed by men dragging a cannon. Colorful banners and standards flutter above a purple cloth tent wall at left, and dozens of ships can be seen in the harbor beyond. A fantastic image with lively color and wonderful detail.

Artist - Yoshitoshi (1839 - 1892)

Image Size - 28 1/2" x 14 1/8"

Condition - With excellent color and detail. Three separate panels. A couple light creases in subject. Some light toning and a few minor spots. A couple small holes repaired from reverse. Please see photos for details. Nice overall.
