Year-end Cleaning

Series; Inner Chiyoda Palace (Chiyoda no Ooku)

Year-end Cleaning - Lovely triptych of two palace beauties watching servants engaged in the annual cleaning that takes place just before the New Year. The servants are giggling at the antics of a group of women at the left, who have tossed the master of the house into the air while one woman has tumbled onto the ground. Mops, brooms, and buckets are scattered around. A charming and lighthearted print. Nice embossing on the white kimono trim.

Artist - Chikanobu (1838 - 1912)

Image Size - 14" x 28 5/8" + margins

Condition - With excellent color and detail. Three panels, attached at the seams and lightly toned throughout. Faint spotting and soiling in subject with a couple stains. Small loss near right edge, small tears at edges, repaired from reverse. Creasing. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
