Oi River Crossing

Comments - Handsome depiction of beauties crossing the Oi River. At right, a beauty and a young girl ride on a platform carried by a team of men, who wade through the waist-deep water. the woman smiles as she looks back over her shoulder, wearing a red kimono patterned with yellow flowers, her hair adorned with a comb, a floral ornament, and ribbons. Behind them, two other women ride atop the shoulders of porters who grip their ankles. The rocky shore frames the view at lower right, with low mountains in the distance and a rosy glow along the horizon. A wonderful subject, attractively colored and detailed.
