Original Meiji era Japanese Woodblock Print
Villain Striking a Pose

Comments - Terrific kabuki portrait of an actor in the role of a villain, looking over his shoulder with a grim expression of determination, his brows slightly furrowed. He wears a black kimono and has a white cloth wrapped around his head against the cool night air, one sleeve resting atop the hilt of his sword. Beautifully detailed with delicate pin shading around the eyes and embossing in the white cloth. A striking design with the large expressive figure set off by a shimmering silver mica background.

Image Size - 8 3/4" x 12 3/4" + margins as shown

Condition - With excellent color and detail. Some light toning and rubbing at edges. Some minor wrinkling at edges. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
