Series; The Book of the Eight Dog Heroes

Segawa Kikunojo V as the Nun Myochin, 1852 - Fantastic kabuki portrait from the tale of the "Eight Dog Heroes" of Segawa Kikunojo V as the nun Myochin, who is actually a cat witch disguised in human form. She peers through the opening of a fine reed blind, smiling sweetly, her long hair flowing around her face. Her true form is revealed in the silhouette on the blinds, however, which shows a shaggy cat with vicious claws and pointed ears. Delicate cherry blossom petals drift over the scene, heightening the contrast between the beauty's lovely appearance and her menacing supernatural self. An incredible design, considered the best of the series, with wonderful fine line work in the hair and blinds, and soft bokashi shading.
