Swimming Fish

Comments - Lovely Hiroshige woodblock of three swimming fish. A large carp swims peacefully, a few strands of delicate seaweed floating nearby, with two other fish barely visible behind. Beautifully shaded with delicate gradations to create a sense of movement and rhythm in the water. A beautiful example of Hiroshige's classic nature prints in the rare aizuri-e format, printed only in tones of blue.

Artist - Hiroshige (1797 - 1858)

Image Size - 9 3/4" x 14 5/8" + margins as shown

Condition - With excellent color and detail as shown. Paper remnants on reverse at three points along left edge from previous folio mounting. Slight soiling, very slight rubbing near edges. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
