Comments - Fantastic Toyokuni III triptych of a Prince Genji and a party of beauties watching ukai or cormorant fishing from a spacious pleasure boat. By the light of fires burning in metal baskets, the fisherman watch the tethered birds diving for their catch, pulling them back on board to remove the fish. A beauty gestures excitedly toward the fisherman while the young nobleman rests on a cushion, surrounded by lovely women. At left a beauty carries in a bottle of sake on a lacquer stand. A terrific woodblock of this festive party viewing an age-old form of fishing, with attractive detail and soft bokashi shading in the water and sky. The Boston Museum of Fine Arts has this image in its collection.

Condition - With excellent color and detail. Three separate panels. Toned as shown. Some rubbing and soiling at edges. A few small holes repaired from reverse. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
