Relaxing under a Cherry Tree

Comments - Lovely spring scene of beauties in a garden under a cherry tree. The woman at left reaches up to read a poem slip tied to a branch as her seated companion waves to her. She relaxes on a wooden bench next to a tobacco set, wearing a pretty blue and white striped kimono patterned with blossoms and tied with a checked obi. A third woman approaches at right, carrying a tray with three tiny cups and a bowl of food, a kettle in hand. An attractive image with a beautifully detailed setting, including and ornately carved stone lantern above a stone water basin at right, and cherry blossoms framing the sky.

Artist - Yoshitora (active circa 1840 - 1880)

Image Size - 14 1/2" x 28 5/8" + margins as shown

Condition - With excellent color and detail as shown. Three panels, not attached at the seams. Pinholes in corners, a few small holes and a couple small losses at edges, repaired, blends well. Toning, slight soiling, a few creases. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
