Masanobu (circa 1686 - 1764) Japanese Woodblock Reprint
Courtesan in a Clock Kimono

Comments - Interesting portrait of a courtesan wearing a yellow outer kimono with an unusual pattern of clocks and flowers on it. The upper sleeves are rendered in shiny black pigment, an effect that gave prints from this time period the name of urushi-e or "lacquer picture." A nice design from the early years of color woodblock prints.

Artist - Masanobu (circa 1686 - 1764)

Image Size - 12 1/2" x 6 1/8"

Condition - With excellent color and detail as shown. Slight creasing. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
