Series; Thirty-six Views of the Eastern Capital
Thirty-six Views of the Eastern Capital - Great design from a series pairing kabuki actors with famous views of
Asakusa Kannon Temple: Bando Hikosaburo V as Kei Kiyoshi - Terrific kabuki portrait of Bando Hikosaburo as Kei Kiyoshi gripping a bamboo pole. A straw mat hangs around his back as a raincoat, and a tattered blue and white dotted cloth covers his wild, unkempt hair. He wears a patchwork kimono over a suit of armor, a pair of chopsticks in his other hand. He looks over his shoulder suspiciously, his lips tightly closed. The pagoda spire of Asakusa Kannon Temple rises above the foliage behind him, with the rooftops of other shrine buildings frame the landscape dotted with blossoming cherry trees. A great image with beautiful detail, including delicate embossing in the dotted cloth.
