Plum Warbler, circa 1930s

Comments - Lovely kacho-e or birds and flowers print of a plum warbler perched on in a plum tree. The tree is covered with white buds and blossoms shadowed in blue, with the rugged trunk rendered with bold calligraphic line work. A charming spring design with beautiful bokashi shading in the sky. A terrific subject that would make a wonderful framed display.

Publisher - Doi, later edition from the original blocks

Artist - Tsuchiya Koitsu (1870 - 1949)

Image Size - 13 3/4" x 6 7/8" + margins as shown

Condition - With excellent color and detail as shown. Slight paper remnants on reverse at two points on left edge from previous folio mounting. Slight creasing near top edge. Please see photos for details. Nice overall.
