Sino-Japanese Naval Battle, 1894

Comments - Dramatic depiction of a naval battle during the Sino-Japanese War. A Japanese warship steams across the choppy water under fluttering flags. Gunners in the crow's nests fire shots down on Chinese sailors tumbling into the water as their vessels capsize. Many cling to a sinking and rigging mast at left while others bob in the water. At upper left, several explosions rock a Chinese ship, sending bodies flying through the air. A bold composition with wonderful energy and detail. A great image for a student of military history.
