Comments - Dramatic scene from the Sino-Japanese War of the Battle of Pyongyang. At left, a Japanese officer waves his sword as he urges his men to attack, his canteen swinging at his side. Soldiers hiding in the grasses below a low ridge fire off a volley of shots at the Chinese. In the center, Japanese troops engage the Chinese in hand-to-hand combat, while at right, frightened enemies begin to flee as they watch their comrades fall, leaving two cannon abandoned. A great composition, nicely detailed with fine bokashi shading in the land and sky.

Artist - Nakamura Shuko (active circa 1890s)

Image Size - 28" x 14"

Condition - With excellent color and detail. Three separate panels. Some toning at edges. A few small holes repaired from reverse. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
