Series; Comparison of the Ogura One Hundred Poets, One Poem Each

Kakinomoto no Hitomaro, Poet No. 3 - Lovely portrait of Kaga no Chiyo, an 18th century Japanese poet, fanning the smoke away from a small brazier. She smiles as she looks over her shoulder, watching the clouds of smoke drift away. She wears a blue kimono patterned with morning glories, tied with a brown floral obi. The poem by featured poet Kakinomoto no Hitomaro reads:

Oh, the foot-drawn trail
,br>Of the mountain-pheasant's tail
Drooped like down-curved branch!
Through this long, long-dragging night
Must I lie in bed alone?

A charming design, attractively colored, very rare to find in reprint.
