Dragon

Series; Twelve Months of the Zodiac, 1849

Dragon - Charming portrait of a beauty painting a fan from a series depicting the twelve months of the zodiac. She sits at a low table covered with a red floral cloth, a fan spread out before her and a bush in hand. A bowl of water and small dishes of pigment rest nearby, along with a container of brushes. She smiles as she looks over her shoulder, a large panel behind her painted with a dragon emerging from a black cloud. Lovely color and detail in this attractive design.

Artist - Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864)

Image Size - 13 1/2" x 9 3/4"

Condition - With excellent color and detail as shown. Slight paper remnants on reverse at corners from previous hinge mounting. Slight thinning at upper right edge, repaired, blends well. Slight soiling, a few creases, couple small thinning spots. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
