Comments - Charming scene of Mitsuuji, the County Genji, enjoying a moonlit evening at his villa. He relaxes on a platform covered with tatami mats, surrounded by beauties, a sumptuous banquet spread out before him. The nobleman wears a sheer black kimono and holds a long slender pipe. He smiles happily as he gazes at the full moon. At right, a small girl leans over the edge of the platform with an eager smile, the beautiful garden spreading out behind her with bridges over a pond and a pine tree framing the view. Wonderful detail in the elegant fabrics and household furnishings, plus fine shading in the water. An attractive design, also in the collection of the Boston Museum of Fine Arts.
