Series: New Ukiyo-e Beauties Compared
February - Wintry Sky, 1924 - Attractive shin hanga design of a pensive beauty in winter, looking down as she pulls her striped brown scarf closer around her neck for warmth. She wears a blue and white striped kimono, and her hair is softly pulled back into a large knot, adorned with a red tie-dyed ribbon, and a small comb in front keeping a lock of bangs in place. The wintry gray sky is softly shaded and dusted with shimmering mica. Beautifully detailed with fine bokashi shading in the hair to add depth. A handsome portrait from a collaborative series published by Murakami featuring beauties for each month of the year, by a variety of shin hanga artists. Signed Koka.
