Beauty with Autumn Grasses Kakemono, 1867

Comments - Attractive kakemono or vertical diptych of a beauty standing in front of tall autumn grasses, with a full moon faintly visible at upper left. She smiles happily as she looks over her shoulder, a folding fan in hand. Her kimono is shaded from green to white, bordered with a design of ground cherries and leaves and tied with an olive green floral obi. Her hair is pulled back into a smooth bun, adorned with a comb and hairpins. A charming Edo era beauty portrait, nicely detailed with fine line work in the hair, eyebrows, and eyelashes.

Artist - Kunisada II (1823 - 1880)

Image Size - 27 1/2" x 9"

Condition - With excellent color and detail as shown. Two panels, not attached at the seams. Several cracks in paper, a few small holes, repaired, blends well. Toning, slight soiling, a few small spots. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
