Original Yoshiharu (1828 - 1888) Japanese Woodblock Print
Commoner in a Wolf and Thunderstorm Kimono, 1862

Comments - Terrific image of a kabuki actor as a commoner, leaning forward aggressively with a tight-lipped frown. His black kimono is patterned with snarling wolves against a backdrop of thunderclouds and jagged bolts of red lightning. His hair is unusually styled, with a rather sloppy knot at the back of his head and the sides combed forward. A terrific kabuki design, nicely colored and detailed.

Artist - Yoshiharu (1828 - 1888)

Image Size - 14 3/8" x 9 1/4"

Condition - With excellent color and detail. Faint soiling and spotting in subject with a couple small stains at corners. Remnants from previous backing on reverse with one horizontal crease in subject. Slight rubbing and wrinkling along edges. Please see photos for details. Nice overall.
