Harunobu (1724 - 1770) Japanese Woodblock Reprint
Sotoba

Series; Seven Komachi in Fashionable Disguise

Goyo Studio Reprints - Hashiguchi Goyo is the undisputed master of the 20th century shin-hanga movement. A secondary part of his career was reprinting beautiful old ukiyo-e designs from the golden age of the Japanese woodblock print. Between 1918 and 1920, much of Goyo’s artistic work was devoted to creating these incredible woodblock reprints of classic ukiyo-e prints. Each image was painstakingly copied from an original and stamped with the Goyo circular seal. Line by line, color by color, the prints were recreated in Goyo’s studio to perfectly emulate these masterworks of ukiyo-e. Goyo took pride in this work and the release of his reprints was met with great acclaim.

Today, original Goyo reprints are highly sought after by collectors and rare to find. This is an exceptional opportunity!

Sotoba - Attractive scene of a beauty with a bundle of firewood on her back pausing for a rest. She sits on a log, dabbing at her chest with a towel, a cloth draped over the top of her head. The young boy before her holds a rock or other object in his hand, his yoke of small logs resting on the ground behind him. An interesting subject from daily life.
