Series; The Sixty-nine Stations of the Kisokaido, 1852

Nakatsugawa: Matsumoto Kinsho II - Interesting kabuki portrait of Matsumoto Kinsho II, staring ahead with an unhappy grimace and furrowed brows. His arms are firmly folded across his chest in an anxious manner, and he wears a plum colored rove over a suit of armor. His hair is pulled back into a slender topknot tied with a white cord, with wings of long hair brushed back on either side. The scene above shows a rather desolate looking landscape with a river and tall trees on either side. An expressive character, nicely detailed with fine line work in the hair.

Artist - Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864)

Image Size - Approximately 14" x 9 1/2"

Condition - With excellent color and detail as shown. Faint vertical center fold. Minor separation at ends of fold, repaired from reverse. Minor thinning along center fold and at edges in some prints. Remnants from previous backing on some prints. Please see photos for a sense of individual condition. Generally in nice condition overall.
