Series; Lasting Impressions of a Later Genji

Hana no en, Chapter 8 - Attractive portrait of a beauty from a series illustrating the famous "Tale of Genji." She wears a beautiful kimono shaded from plum to blue with a design of flowers and flowing water, over a red under robe. She has removed her brocade obi in preparation for retiring for the night, the sash lying crumpled on the floor behind her. She takes a metal hairpin from her hair, and has a roll of tissues caught between her teeth. A charming design, beautifully detailed with embossing in the white kimono trim.

Artist - Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864)

Image Size - 14 1/2" x 9 3/4" + margins as shown

Condition - With excellent color and detail as shown. Slight paper remnants on reverse at top corners from previous folio mounting. A few small spots, small crease at top edge. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
