Comments - Dramatic scene of a fierce battle taking place on the pontoon bridge at Jiuliancheng during the Sino-Japanese War. In the center, soldiers from both sides battle in hand-to-hand combat on the bridge, with Chinese soldiers tumbling into the water. At bottom right, Japanese troops fire a cannon, with the shot exploding in a burst of orange flames and clouds of smoke on the opposite shore. A fascinating image with expressive figures and wonderful detail.
