Bando Mitsugoro VI as a Courtesan, 1864 - Handsome kabuki portrait of Bando Mitsugoro VI as a high-ranking courtesan. She turns her head to the side with a slight sneer, looking suspiciously out of the corners of her eyes. She wears a beautiful red outer kimono patterned with peonies and chrysanthemums over a red under robe with a white embossed collar. Her hair is elegantly arranged in two large loops with large combs and many hairpins. The figure is framed by a blue floral border with hydrangea blossoms and small text panels above. Nicely detailed with fine line work in the hair.

Artist - Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864)

Image Size - 9 3/4" x 14 5/8"

Condition - With excellent color and detail. Lightly toned throughout with adhesive residue along top edge. A couple small wormholes, repaired from reverse. Slight creasing along edges and corners. Please see photos for details. Nice overall.
