Beauties Playing Ball - Lovely scene of two young women playing with colorful balls on the verandah of a home. The beauty in the center kneels as she bounces a ball, the other women watching her with amusement. A flowering plum tree and pink and red peony blossoms frame the view at right. Wonderful detail in the beautiful kimono fabrics, with touches of embossing on the white collars and fine burnishing in the hair. A charming Chikanobu triptych showing the pastimes of upper-class women.
