Comments - Handsome triptych depicting a beauty rushing into her lover's room at Horikawa Palace just before a battle. He sits up in bed, holding a suit of armor in one hand and gripping his sword with the other. The woman hurries barefoot towards the open doorway, her arms outstretched to bid him farewell. She wears a flowing kimono patterned with grasses and floral motifs, lined in a soft pink with an embossed wave pattern. A lacquer chest rests on the floor next to her with the lid leaning against the side. Beyond the verandah railing, banners flutter in the evening sky under a softly glowing moon. A lovely image, beautifully drawn. Nicely detailed with embossing in the samurai's white robe and the beauty's white under robe and pink kimono lining, with touches of burnishing on the chest and the armor. A very attractive design.
