The Great Battle between Nitta Yoshisada and Ashikaga Takauji, 1836

Comments - Fantastic triptych illustrating a great battle between Nitta Yoshisada and Ashikaga Takauji, likely the Battle of Hyogo in 1335. The two forces rush towards one another on horseback, spears and swords raised to strike. An intriguing scene, filled with energy and action, with lively detail in the expressive faces, armor, and weapons. A great design, also in the collection of the Boston Museum of Fine Arts.

Artist - Kuniyoshi (1797 - 1861)

Image Size - 14 1/4" x 29" + margins as shown

Condition - With excellent color and detail as shown. Three panels, not attached at the seams. A few small holes repaired from reverse. A couple creases near edges. Some faint soiling. Please see photos for details. Very nice overall.
