Comments - Fantastic design of Yoritomo's night attack on Yamaki Palace, which took Kanetaka Yamaki and his retainers by surprise on September 9, 1180. In the foreground, palace troops rush forward along the verandah, directed by Yamaki at the rear. At left, Yoritomo and his samurai attack with spears and a large wooden mallet as Minamoto banners and standards flutter in the night breeze. Across a lagoon, more of Yoritomo's men climb over the railings and charge into the building. A terrific scene with wonderful detail in the architectural setting at the water's edge, with Mt. Fuji visible above clouds on the horizon.

Condition - With excellent color and detail. Three panels, not attached at the seams. Some small holes and tears along edges and in subject, repaired from reverse. Faint soiling, spotting and staining in subject. Slight vertical creasing along edges. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
