Ichikawa Danjuro VIII as Yosaburo, 1853

Comments - Handsome kabuki portrait of Ichikawa Danjuro VIII as Yosaburo, eavesdropping outside a garden gate. He leans to the side, cupping his hand behind his ear as he listens, a worried frown on his face. He wears a striped kimono over a red under robe, and chunky wooden geta sandals. Behind him, a blossoming cherry tree frames the night sky. An attractive design with fine bokashi shading in the background.

Artist - Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864)

Image Size - 14" x 10" + margin

Condition - With excellent color and detail. Light residue from previous adhesive with light pencil markings on reverse. Faint spotting in subject with one small hole along bottom edge repaired from reverse. Please see photos for details. Nice overall.
