From an untitled series of actors reflected in mirrors

Onoe Kikugoro III as Omatsuri Sashichi, 1829 - Nice expressive portrait of Onoe Kikugoro III from a series depicting actors reflected in oval mirrors. He plays the role of the fireman Omatsuri Sashichi in the play "Iro Ichiza Soga Oyose," staring ahead with a worried expression, scowling with eyes wide. He clutches the sleeve of his striped kimono to his chest, a rust colored robe draped over one shoulder. His thinning hair is pulled back into a slender topknot, and a dotted towel is tied around his neck. A handsome design, also in the collection of the Boston Museum of Fine Arts.

Artist - Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864)

Image Size - 10 1/8" x 14 5/8"

Condition - With excellent color and detail. Some rubbing, soiling and toning at edges. Some spotting and staining in subject. A number of creases and wrinkles in subject. A couple small holes repaired from reverse. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
