Fifty-three Stations of the Tokaido

Outdoor Tea Stall at Fukuroi - Wonderful scene of a roadside tea stall at Fukuroi, with fields stretching into the distance at right. Palanquin bearers stop for a rest, one man bending over to light his pipe at the smoking fire as a woman tends a large kettle hanging from a tree branch. A lovely rural view with soft bokashi shading and fine embossing in the swirling smoke.

Artist - Hiroshige (1797 - 1858)

Image Size - 8 3/4" x 13 3/4" + margins

Condition - With excellent color and detail. Lightly toned throughout with minor staining along left-hand edge. Slight thinning along left and bottom edge with faint creasing and soiling in subject. Please see photos for details. Nice overall.
