Cyclamen and Orchid by Masaharu Aoyama (1893 - 1969)

Original Masaharu Aoyama (1893 - 1969) Japanese Woodblock Print
Cyclamen and Orchid

First Edition

Post-WWII Estate Collection - In today's auctions we're pleased to offer a special estate collection of beautiful, mid-twentieth century floral designs that date from just after WWII. An American collected these Uchida Publisher prints in Japan immediately following the war, so they are all first edition woodblocks from the late-1940s to early 1950s, an important consideration since many of these designs continued to be printed much later. Carefully observed and beautifully drawn, these attractive images feature a range of color from soft pastels to rich jewel tones. These lovely modern designs are a great choice to collect or display, either singly or in groups.

Cyclamen and Orchid - Lovely image of white and soft pink cyclamen with a bright pink orchid arching above them. The deep green foliage in the foreground is beautifully shaded to create a sense of depth and provide a rich contrast to the delicate shades of the blossoms. A wonderful composition.

Artist - Masaharu Aoyama (1893 - 1969)

Image Size - 10" x 15 1/4"

Condition - With excellent color and detail as shown. Slight paper remnants on reverse at top corners from previous folio mounting. A few faint spots, small crease and two tiny tears in left margin. Please see photos for details. Nice overall.
