Our Troops Attack South toward the Capitol, 1895

Comments - Dramatic scene from the Sino-Japanese War of Japanese troops crossing a river in the south as they move toward the capitol. Atop the embankment at right, soldiers man a cannon, firing shots at the fortress on the opposite shore, a general watching the progress through binoculars. The men wade through the chest-deep water and clamber ashore as an officer rallies them forward, waving his sword above his head. An explosion bursts inside the walls at left, and clouds of smoke billow across the scene. A great Kiyochika design with a striking composition and beautiful color and shading.

Artist - Kiyochika (1847 - 1915)

Image Size - 14" x 28" + margins

Condition - With excellent color and detail. Three panels, not attached at the seams. Lightly toned in margins with faint spotting and rubbing in subject. A few small stains with minor soiling along edges. Please see photos for details. Nice overall.
