Mieji: Bando Hikosaburo IV - Handsome kabuki portrait of Bando Hikosaburo IV as an unhappy matron. She looks over her shoulder with a scowl, the corner of her mouth slightly open. She wears a black kimono edges with red trim over a red under robe with an embossed white collar, a folding fan in her hand. Her hair is pulled back into a knot adorned with a plain comb and a few simple hair ornaments. The spring landscape above shows stone steps leading to a shrine or palace, with blossoming cherry trees dotting the grounds. A nicely detailed image with fine line work in the hair and soft shading in the background.

Condition - With excellent color and detail as shown. Faint vertical center fold. Minor separation at ends of fold, repaired from reverse. Minor thinning along center fold and at edges in some prints. Remnants from previous backing on some prints. Please see photos for a sense of individual condition. Generally in nice condition overall.
