Original 19th century Japanese Woodblock Print
Traveling Beauty

Comments - Charming scene of a beauty traveling with an attendant, pausing for a moment as her servant bends down to tend to her foot. She lifts the edge of her hat as she looks back over her shoulder at a Shinto priest who smiles cheerfully at her from behind a tree. The woman wears a pink kimono patterned with butterflies over a pale green robe, her cloth bundle resting on a rock next to the red lacquer fence at left. An interesting subject with nice calligraphic line work in the tree and foliage.
