Series; Snow, Moon, and Flower for the Minamoto and Taira

Moon: Ushiwakamaru and Sojobo, 1901 - Terrific scene of the young Ushiwakamaru (the future Yoshitsune) on Mt. Kurama, asking Sojobo, the mythical king of the tengu, to train him in martial arts. He kneels respectfully on the forest floor before the elderly priest, who is surrounded by tengu, winged spirits with bird-like beaks and claws, known for their fencing ability. Sojobo wears a red robe and extends a scroll in his outstretched hand, his long white hair flowing over his shoulders. One of the tengu holds a hatchet emblazoned with flames under his wing. A full moon can be seen in the night sky beyond the trees, while another samurai crouches behind a trunk at right, watching with interest. A fantastic, atmospheric design, beautifully composed and detailed.
